Promoters of Social Inclusion

Promoters of Social Inclusion
The Promoters of Social Inclusion (PSI) is an independent, African led, not for profit social enterprise organization founded in 2022 by William Tolbert. PSI’s formation was motivated by a desire to propel social inclusion of all persons in both development and democratic processes.
At the heart of PSI’s theory of change is Social Inclusion (SI). We advocate for full social inclusion of persons with disabilities, grassroots women and youths in communities. We do this through deliberative workshop(s) where we inspire communities to embrace inclusion thus ensuring vulnerable persons participate in the development and democratic processes. We activate dialogues, conversions and build awareness that act as catalytic action that increase the number of persons with disabilities, women and youth participating in development and democratic processes, thus alleviating poverty and making them contributing members of the society.
About Us
Today in the larger Africa, persons with disabilities, grassroots women and youths face exclusion, discrimination and challenges to the enjoyment of their fundamental rights and their inclusion in development. Often, they are disproportionately likely to live in poverty and, too often, do not have equal access to education, health care, employment opportunities, housing, social protection systems, justice, and cultural expression and participation in political life.
Our participatory deliberative workshop(s) enables communities to embrace a whole-of-society approach in addressing exclusion. We work together with communities to try to address the situation of persons with disabilities, grassroots women and youths in communities. We believe that there is a strong bidirectional link between development and democracy, thus our work on social inclusion targets both development and democratic issues.
We seek to contribute to the realization of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on the principle of “leaving no one behind”, our programs emphasize a holistic and inclusive approach to achieving sustainable development for all. Five of the 17 SDGs are critical to us as an organization and this includes:
- SDG NO 4-Quality Education:where we promote inclusive, equitable education and lifelong learning for children and youth with disabilities.
- SDG NO 8-Decent Work and Economic Growth: Sustainable economic growth where empower societies to create the conditions that allow people to have quality jobs that stimulate the economy while not harming the environment.
- SDG NO 10-Reduced Inequalities: where we work on reducing inequality and policies that are universal in principle, paying attention to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized populations.
- SDG NO 11-sustainable Cities and Communities: where we focus on common urban challenges that include congestion, lack of funds to provide basic services, a shortage of adequate housing, declining infrastructure and rising pollution within cities.
- SDG NO 17: partnerships For the Goals: PSI believe successful sustainable development agenda requires partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society.
